Using the S500TER feels like a return to dependable computing. The transition to DDR5 memory provides a noticeable improvement in system responsiveness when switching between heavy applications. The inclusion of legacy ports like VGA and PS/2 alongside modern HDMI 2.1b ensures compatibility with both older monitors and high-resolution displays, making it a flexible choice for various desk configurations. The 500W power supply provides enough headroom for future upgrades, such as adding a dedicated graphics card via the PCIe 4.0 x16 slot.
Compared to the ASUS S500TC or similar entry-level business desktops, the S500TER distinguishes itself with the latest 14th Gen Intel architecture and the shift to DDR5 memory. While other models might rely on older DDR4 standards, the S500TER offers a more future-proof foundation, ensuring the system remains relevant for several years of intensive use.
